First, make sure you are away from fire or flame. Remove the inside unit from the case. Lift the corner of the felt pad on the bottom of the insert to reveal the packing material in the fuel chamber. Fill slowly to saturate the packing with Zippo lighter fluid. Stop filling when fuel reaches the top of packing. Never overfill. If overfilled the lighter will leak fuel. Avoid getting the lighter fluid on your skin, as it is a skin irritant. If contact with skin does occur, wash the affected area promptly with mild soap and water. If irritation persists or worsens, contact your physician.
Insert the inside unit back into the case, making sure to wipe excess fluid from the lighter and your hands before igniting the lighter. Be sure the fuel can is closed and there is no spilled fuel in the vicinity before igniting. This is a flammable fluid.
If the Zippo lighter is kept in your pocket, Zippo suggests that it be placed bottom down, especially when first re-fueled.
When the wick becomes black from carbon, pull it up with pliers until the clean wick appears. Cut it off even with the top of the chimney, then straighten the wick in the chimney.
To replace the wick; use tweezers to remove all packing from the fuel chamber. Insert a new wick downward through the chimney pulling it through with tweezers.
Replace the packing in small pieces, interweaving the wick between the padding pieces. Be sure to trim the wick even with the chimney height.
We suggest that you use only genuine Zippo fluid and flints for optimal performance, since they are specially formulated to work in our lighters. The softer material used in some non-Zippo flints can clog the striking wheel, making the lighter difficult to light. Also, please be sure the wick is properly interwoven in the cotton packing located in the inside unit.
Reflinting a lighter is easy once you know what you need to do.
1. Remove the inside unit from your lighter.
2. Unscrew the flint spring using a small screwdriver or a coin (watch the spring so it doesn't fly away).
3. Turning the inside unit right side up again, remove the remaining piece of flint (if any) by gently tapping the inside unit on a hard surface.
4. Insert a new Zippo flint in the long flint tube from which you removed the spring (the spring has a brass tip on the end which many people believe is a flint - it is not).
5. Replace the flint spring and screw it in.
6. Replace the inside unit in your lighter case.
You're all set.
1. Do not attempt to remove insert
2. Invert lighter
3. Locate fill valve on lighter bottom
4. Holding the BLU Lighter inverted (hold both the lighter and the butane can upside down) insert the nozzle of the butane can into fill valve on lighter bottom
5. Depress nozzle 2 to 3 times using firm even pressure
6. Check fuel level through viewing window on side of lighter
7. Insure that more than 1/8” of fuel is visible (the lot numbers visible through the viewing window can serve as a guide)
8. Allow 2 minutes after fueling before use

9. Replace flint wheel cartridge in lighter, lining up notched side of cartridge facing the burner and press firmly down
Use only a premium grade butane fuel. Refuel your MPL in a well-ventilated area away from open flame or source of heat/sparks.
Hold the MPL so that the filling valve is facing up. (The filling valve is located in the center of the black knob at the bottom of the MPL). Place the butane fuel can nozzle into filling valve and depress the can several times with a firm, even pressure. Be sure the butane can nozzle is seated correctly in the filling valve. If butane leaks, try re-seating the nozzle.
Butane fuel is not only highly flammable, it is very cold when it escapes into the air during filling so be careful. Wait at least 2 minutes after refueling before using your MPL; this allows the fuel and seals to stabilize and any vapors to dissipate. Igniting prior to 2 minutes may cause a fire or damage the internal seals and result in a malfunction.
The flame adjustment knob is located at the bottom of the MPL. The adjustment knob can be turned in the direction of the arrows on the bottom to increase or decrease flame height.
1. Remove Hand Warmer lid. Remove the part holding the catalytic burner element.
2. Pour Zippo lighter fluid into the plastic filling cup. Do not spill.
· Fill to lower line for about 6-12 hours of heat.
· Fill to upper line for about 12-24 hours of heat.
· Do not fill beyond the upper line or put in more than you will need.
3. Pour lighter fluid into the catalytic burner opening. Do not overfill. Overfilling will cause malfunction and could cause fire and burns.
4. Carefully wipe off any excess lighter fluid from the Hand Warmer surfaces and allow excess fuel to evaporate before using the hand warmer.
5. Carefully replace the part holding the catalytic burner element.
6. Be sure fuel can is closed and there is no spilled fuel in the vicinity or on your hands or the hand warmer before igniting.
1. With the lid off, hold the base unit with one hand and apply flame to the burner using a match or a lighter for 3 to 5 seconds using the other hand. Keep hands away from the match or lighter flame. The burner is catalytic so you will not see any flame on the burner.
2. Locate the orange indicator bar on side of lid. Touch indicator bar to the center of the burner 10 to 15 seconds. The burner has been ignited when color of the bar changes from orange to red. If the indicator does not turn red, repeat step 1.
3. After ignition has been confirmed, replace the Hand Warmer lid, then place warmer into the warming bag provided. You must place the Hand Warmer in the bag to prevent over-heating. Your Zippo Hand Warmer will now provide comfortable warmth for many hours but carefully follow the instructions regarding use. After ignition, heat is provided without flame by the catalytic unit.
4. If necessary to stop heating action, carefully pry off the burner element with pliers, a knife or edge of the lid. The burner element will be very hot. Do not touch it to the skin or any flammable surface. The burner and catalytic unit will then extinguish in about 30 seconds. When the burner and catalytic unit have cooled, replace the burner and lid. Be careful because there could still be fuel in the Hand Warmer.
